Double Degree Program (3+1 Program)
The International College of King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (IC-KMUTNB) and Hochschule Bremerhaven – University of Applied Sciences, Germany (HSBHV), is opening for the Double Degree 3+1 Programme.
Tracks and Number of Participants
- Track 1: 5 seats will be offered for BETRIEBSWIRTSCHAFTSLEHRE (Bachelor of Business Administration)
- Track 2: 5 seats will be offered for BA Cruise Tourism Management
**The final decision will be made by the Joint Committee of Hochschule Bremerhaven and International College of KMUTNB. The Joint Committee’s decision is final. **
For International College students under this program, the study will be 3 years at home university (KMUTNB, Thailand) and 1 year at host university(HSBHV, Germany). Successful graduates of this program will be awarded Double Degree from both universities.
Details of the Program for students of International College, KMUTNB
- For ITBL students, they will spend Semester 1 – 6 at KMUTNB and Semester 7-8 at HSBHV
- While studying at HSBHV, the ITBL students must completed their Bachelor Thesis under joint-supervision of HSBHV and International College, KMUTNB lecturers.
- Only courses approved by both universities may be enrolled and transferred to obtain double degree at both universities. Unapproved courses will not be considered for the transfer.
- Courses and Credits taken at HSBHV will be counted for the graduation result of ITBL students and will be included in their GPAX. Result will also be taken to consider awarding of honor degree.
- Language of teaching and Bachelor Thesis writing at both universities is “English”
- HSBHV will organize a Basic German Language class for ITBL students without additional fee.
Financial matters:
- ITBL students pay their usual tuition fee to KMUTNB at 60,000 THB per semester.
- Tuition fee is waived at HSBHV.
- Under German laws, both local and foreign students at all higher education institutions are required to pay a “Semester Contribution”. This is a contribution to student services. In return, students will be able to enjoy student discount and privileges such as discount meal at canteens, free semester ticket for public transportation within the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen area (Bremen and Bremerhaven) and include transportation from Free Hanseatic City of Bremen to some major cities like Hamburg. Students can also take advantage of the discount for gym, museum, and sport events. The amount is about 300-400 EURO per semester. The updated amount will be given year by year by HSBHV.
- Students must be responsible for their personal expenses: passport, VISA, health insurance, accommodation, textbook, and other personal spending.
- Per requirement by German government’s immigration policy, students must have sufficient fund allocated for 1 year of living and studying in Germany and a proof must be provided to the VISA office when they apply for VISA. The fund must be deposit in ‘blocked account’ and will be gradually released to the students for monthly expense. The blocked amount acts as a guarantee that the students can uphold an appropriate standard of living abroad. The German authorities define the blocked amount. The amount for 2024 is 934 Euro per month x 12 months = 10,236 EURO. The amount is calculated based on total cost-of-living estimation (food, accommodation, etc.). The exact amount might be changed every year.
- Arrangement of accommodation is the responsibility of the students. The HSBHV’s International Office will provide recommendations and some assistance in renting suitable accommodation. Price varies based on type and number of amenities.
Criteria for Candidacy
- Third Year ITBL students
- GPAX (Semester 1 – 5) at 3.00 and upper
- No standing F, W, or untaken course left by their 6th Semester at KMUTNB
- Language Requirement
- Minimum IELTS 6.0 is required for Track 1 [B.B.A. International Trade and Business Logistics+ B.A.Betriebswirtschaftslehre (= Business Administration)]
- Minimum IELTS 6.5 is required for Track 2 [B.B.A. International Trade and Business Logistics+ B.A. Cruise Tourism Management]
*Remark* IELTS result must be submitted on Application Period. The result will be used as a preliminary indicator of language skills. Hochschule Bremerhaven will take into account of overall performance of the students along with language proficiency of the candidate and reserve the right to accept or reject candidates.
- Students must be able to finance all expenses occur during their study. Parents or Guardian must also approve to take care of the expenses.
- Applicants must show their intension to join the candidacy by enrolling in Co-Operative Education (Summer Semester) course earlier than usual.
- Must be a person of good character as representative of the International College and KMUTNB
- The decision of the International College and Hochschule Bremerhaven is finite with no further contest.
